Director de Desarrollo Juvenil   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site position in Dorado, Puerto Rico
  • 150,000 USD annual salary, paid weekly

If you have moved beyond conventional school systems and will not compromise standards to avoid difficult conversations, this position offers something distinct. You will guide students and staff toward ambitious results using data and transparent benchmarks, not lectures or traditional lesson plans.

Alpha School is developing an AI-driven model where students complete core academics in two hours per day, then dedicate their afternoons to developing practical life skills. Our commitment is clear and rigorous: students love school, learn at 2× the pace of peers, and develop life skills. This position ensures that commitment becomes reality for every K–8 student at our Dorado campus.

You will remain directly engaged. You will deliver one-hour life skills workshops, facilitate structured sessions that motivate students to progress in academic applications, and coach Guides through direct feedback and actionable improvement steps. This is neither a traditional teaching position nor a hands-off leadership role. You will be responsible for outcomes, adherence to playbooks, and maintaining uncompromising standards.

If you are prepared to lead by example and establish a campus culture where results are earned through effort, submit your application and demonstrate how you maintain high standards without accepting excuses.

What you will be doing

  • Deliver one-hour life skills workshops for K–8 students by preparing materials and executing activities precisely according to playbooks
  • Lead structured motivation sessions designed to drive students forward in academic apps toward their goals
  • Observe Guides during delivery and provide standards-based coaching that includes specific improvement actions and accountability
  • Apply objective, data-informed judgment to maintain mastery standards, even in challenging situations
  • Work daily with campus staff to ensure reliable delivery of Alpha's 3 Promises

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver or tutor academic content using traditional classroom methods
  • Create lesson plans or develop curriculum materials
  • Deviate from established playbooks or improvise workshop content
  • Compromise mastery standards or adjust goals downward to create artificial "success"
  • Manage from behind a desk with administrative tasks while others engage directly with students

Key responsibilities

Ensure that every K–8 student at Alpha's Dorado campus reliably experiences Alpha's 3 Promises: they love school, learn 2× faster, and build life skills.

Candidate requirements

  • Authorized to work in Puerto Rico
  • Available to work full-time on-site at the Dorado, Puerto Rico campus
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience coaching individuals to ambitious outcomes
  • Experience working with children ages 5–14 in coaching, motivation, or youth development contexts
  • Experience coaching or leading adult performance using clear standards and accountability structures
  • Strong verbal communication skills tailored for K–8 audiences
  • Data-driven decision-making capability (leveraging metrics and analytics to establish direction and uphold standards)
  • High-standards orientation with comfort delivering direct feedback and maintaining goals without compromise
