Social Media Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

You are not looking to “run social.” You want to define it.

Most education brands post safe, polished content that says nothing. You want to build a presence that makes ambitious parents stop mid-scroll and think, This is different. You care about qualified inbound interest, not empty engagement.

gt.school is an AI-powered K–8 program built for gifted and talented learners. Students master core academics in two hours and use the rest of the day to pursue advanced academics and real-world skills. The outcomes are real. The differentiation is clear. What we need is a social presence that earns trust at scale and turns credibility into demand.

You will own the entire loop. Find the story. Shape the angle. Produce the content. Publish. Engage. Iterate. There is no inherited playbook and no pre-built channel strategy. You will create the system and raise the standard.

If you want autonomy, a high creative bar, and a clear link between your work and qualified parent interest, this role gives you that ownership.

What you will be doing

  • Building gt.school’s owned social presence from zero with a disciplined publishing cadence tied to inbound parent interest
  • Creating social-native storytelling that highlights real student outcomes, parent motivations, and founder-level perspective without feeling scripted or promotional
  • Owning end-to-end execution: ideation, scripting, production, posting, engagement, and iteration across priority platforms
  • Running structured experiments to improve reach, engagement quality, and conversion intent using performance data to drive decisions
  • Engaging directly with comments and messages to deepen trust, signal responsiveness, and strengthen community

What you will NOT be doing

  • Posting filler content to “stay active” or maintain a corporate aesthetic
  • Inheriting a mature channel strategy with guardrails and templates
  • Optimizing for vanity metrics disconnected from qualified parent demand
  • Launching one-off campaigns that lack authentic proof and durable narrative

Key responsibilities

Build gt.school’s social credibility from scratch so that qualified, high-performing parents consistently discover, trust, and engage with the brand.

Candidate requirements

  • Built and grown at least one social channel from 0 to 10,000+ followers (or equivalent engagement growth) within 12 months; hands-on experience with at least two of: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X/Twitter.
  • 2+ years owning the full social content lifecycle end-to-end, with 3+ concrete examples of work and results.
  • Experience using performance metrics (views, watch time, CTR, engagement) to drive measurable strategy changes.
  • 1+ year working in a startup, agency, or low-structure environment where priorities shifted mid-project.

Nice to have

  • Experience scaling multiple social channels beyond early traction while maintaining a consistent, differentiated voice
  • Background building education-adjacent or parent-focused brands where trust and proof outweigh hype
  • Strong interview or on-camera direction skills to extract compelling stories from students, parents, and founders
