Every child should read at grade level or higher—yet too many broken systems fail to deliver on that promise.

Alpha School demonstrates that literacy gains don't demand extended school hours. Our 2-Hour Learning approach blends AI-adaptive platforms with expert-led instruction to accelerate reading development. Your role: create and facilitate workshops that produce quantifiable improvements in phonics, fluency, and comprehension for early elementary learners.

This position centers on data-informed teaching, technology integration, and constructing a reading framework scalable to thousands of students—not administrative busywork.

Life in Dorado: Beaches within minutes. A thriving bilingual setting with proximity to San Juan's arts and culture, balanced by small-town living.

Drive learning. Grow continuously. Submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating adaptive reading workshops focused on phonics, comprehension, and fluency development
  • Creating individualized motivational sessions leveraging gamified literacy benchmarks
  • Reviewing student performance data to optimize instruction and identify actionable patterns
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and improve AI literacy platforms using real classroom feedback
  • Building scalable, AI-supported content that helps early elementary learners reach grade-level reading proficiency

What you will NOT be doing

  • Standing at the front delivering lectures — students engage through self-directed AI applications, not traditional instruction
  • Adhering to pre-built curriculum or scripted lessons — you create original workshops independently
  • Instructing in other academic areas — your responsibility is reading workshops and motivational support, not mathematics or science
  • Managing behavior or providing supervision without purpose — each session targets specific learning goals with measurable outcomes
  • Operating independently — you work closely with the engineers who develop the AI tools students interact with every day

Key responsibilities

Drive every K-2 student in your group to achieve at or above grade-level reading through AI-enhanced workshops that make phonics instruction engaging, trackable, and effective

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus either a Master's in reading instruction OR structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent)
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (essential for student and family interaction)
  • 2+ years facilitating small-group reading interventions with early elementary students
  • Expertise in reading assessment, student grouping, and creating differentiated instruction independent of pre-written materials
  • Comfortable using AI/adaptive learning platforms and interpreting student behavioral data
  • Legal work authorization in Puerto Rico without employer sponsorship
  • Availability to work on-site in Dorado, Puerto Rico
