Do you believe that literacy at grade level—or beyond—should be the baseline for every child, yet you're frustrated by systems that squander their promise?

Alpha School demonstrates that literacy transformation doesn't demand full-day school schedules. Our 2-Hour Learning framework integrates AI-adaptive platforms with skilled teaching to fast-track reading development. Your mandate: create and lead workshops that produce quantifiable advances in phonics, fluency, and comprehension for students in the early elementary years.

This role is not about administrative lesson-plan busywork. It centers on evidence-based instruction, technology partnership, and constructing a reading curriculum that scales to thousands of learners.

Dorado advantages: Immaculate coastlines within minutes. A dynamic bilingual setting with convenient proximity to San Juan's arts and culture, all while preserving a close-knit, small-town environment.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting adaptive reading workshops that build phonics, comprehension, and fluency competencies
  • Creating personalized motivational sessions anchored in gamified literacy benchmarks
  • Reviewing student performance data to refine teaching approaches and extract actionable intelligence
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and improve AI literacy platforms informed by real classroom outcomes
  • Building scalable, AI-supported resources that enable early elementary learners to reach grade-level reading proficiency

What you will NOT be doing

  • Standing at the front delivering lectures — students engage with self-directed AI applications rather than passive teacher-led instruction
  • Executing a turnkey curriculum or scripted lesson guides — you construct your workshop content independently from the ground up
  • Teaching core academic disciplines — your domain is reading workshops and motivational coaching, not delivering math or science lessons
  • Managing behavior or supervising playtime — each session is structured around explicit learning goals and quantifiable results
  • Operating in a silo — you work hand-in-hand with the engineers who develop the AI tools students interact with every day

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every K-2 student under your guidance achieves grade-level reading or higher through AI-enhanced workshops that render phonics instruction engaging, trackable, and enjoyable

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree combined with either a Master's in reading instruction OR a structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent)
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (essential for engaging students and families)
  • 2+ years of experience delivering small-group reading interventions to students in early elementary grades
  • Capable of evaluating reading levels, organizing student groups, and creating differentiated instruction in the absence of prepackaged curricula
  • Comfortable working with AI/adaptive learning platforms and interpreting student behavioral data
  • Authorized to work legally in Puerto Rico without employer sponsorship
  • Prepared to work on-site in Dorado, Puerto Rico
