Every child deserves to achieve grade-level reading proficiency (or exceed it), yet too many broken systems squander that possibility.

Alpha School demonstrates that literacy transformation doesn't demand 6-hour school days. Our 2-Hour Learning framework integrates AI-adaptive technology with skilled teaching to accelerate reading development. Your role: create and implement workshops that produce quantifiable improvements in phonics, fluency, and comprehension for early elementary learners.

This role involves data-informed teaching, technology partnership, and constructing a reading system that serves thousands of students—not administrative busywork.

Why Dorado: Beautiful beaches within minutes. A dynamic bilingual environment with convenient access to San Juan's cultural offerings, all while preserving a small-town atmosphere.

Shape learning. Embrace growth. Submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting adaptive reading workshops focused on phonics, comprehension, and fluency development
  • Creating individualized motivational sessions leveraging gamified literacy benchmarks
  • Evaluating student performance data to optimize instruction and identify actionable patterns
  • Working alongside engineers to assess and improve AI literacy platforms based on classroom evidence
  • Building scalable, AI-integrated content that empowers early elementary learners to reach grade-level reading competency

What you will NOT be doing

  • Standing at the front delivering lectures — students advance through self-directed AI applications, not traditional instruction
  • Adhering to a ready-made curriculum or scripted lessons — you create your workshops independently
  • Instructing other academic subjects — your domain is reading workshops and motivational support, not mathematics or science
  • Managing behavior or supervision — each session centers on specific learning goals with trackable results
  • Operating independently — you partner closely with the engineers developing the AI tools students interact with every day

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every K-2 student under your guidance achieves at or above grade-level reading through AI-powered workshops that transform phonics learning into an engaging, quantifiable, and enjoyable experience

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus either a Master's in reading instruction OR structured literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, IMSE, CERI, LETRS, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent)
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (essential for engaging students and families)
  • 2+ years conducting small-group reading interventions with early elementary students
  • Demonstrated ability to assess reading levels, organize student groups, and create differentiated instruction independent of published curricula
  • Comfortable using AI/adaptive learning platforms and interpreting student behavioral data
  • Authorized to work in Puerto Rico without employer sponsorship
  • Available for on-site work in Dorado, Puerto Rico
