Are you convinced that every child should achieve grade-level reading proficiency (or exceed it), yet frustrated by ineffective systems that squander their promise?

Alpha School is demonstrating that literacy transformation doesn't demand traditional 6-hour instructional days. Our 2-Hour Learning framework combines AI-adaptive platforms with specialized teaching to amplify reading progress. Your role: architect and execute workshops that produce quantifiable improvements in phonics mastery, reading fluency, and comprehension for students in early elementary grades.

This position involves data-informed teaching, technology integration, and constructing a reading curriculum that scales to serve thousands of learners—not administrative busywork or templated lesson plans.

Living in Dorado offers: Pristine coastline within minutes. A thriving bilingual environment with convenient access to San Juan's arts and culture, all while preserving a small-town atmosphere.

Drive learning outcomes. Thrive professionally. Submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating adaptive reading workshops that strengthen phonics foundations, comprehension abilities, and fluency development
  • Creating individualized motivational experiences leveraging gamified reading achievement markers
  • Examining student performance metrics to optimize instructional approaches and extract meaningful patterns
  • Partnering with engineering teams to assess and improve AI-powered literacy platforms informed by real classroom outcomes
  • Building scalable, AI-integrated learning materials that help early elementary learners reach grade-level reading standards

What you will NOT be doing

  • Standing at the front delivering traditional lectures — learning happens through self-directed AI applications, not passive listening
  • Implementing off-the-shelf curricula or scripted teaching guides — you create customized workshops independently
  • Instructing in core academic subjects — your scope centers on reading workshops and motivational support, excluding math or science instruction
  • Managing behavior or providing childcare — each session targets specific learning goals with trackable results
  • Operating independently — you work closely with the engineers developing the AI systems your students interact with every day

Key responsibilities

Guarantee that every K-2 student under your instruction achieves at or above grade-level reading proficiency via AI-enhanced workshops that transform phonics instruction into an engaging, trackable, and enjoyable learning experience

Candidate requirements

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (essential for student instruction and family communication)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience facilitating small-group reading interventions for early elementary learners
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate reading proficiency, organize student groups, and create differentiated instruction independent of pre-built curricula
  • Competent with AI/adaptive learning platforms and attentive to student behavioral data
  • Authorized to work in Puerto Rico without requiring sponsorship
  • Prepared to work on-site at our Dorado, Puerto Rico location
