The most meaningful support you can offer a student who reaches 99% of their target is to insist it's not finished. If that expectation makes you uneasy, this position won't suit you. If it energizes you—because maintaining high standards is how you demonstrate belief in a child's potential—continue reading.
Alpha School operates on the 2 Hour Learning framework: students in grades K-8 complete a full day's worth of academic work in approximately two hours using adaptive learning applications. No traditional lectures. No conventional textbooks. Your role encompasses what the technology cannot provide—guiding students through essential life competencies including public speaking, concentration, collaboration, and feedback exchange.
Approximately 60% of your time involves individualized motivational coaching: reviewing learning app dashboards and Coachbot data, identifying where an 8-year-old struggles with fractions or a 5th grader resists reading assignments, and facilitating breakthroughs. The remaining 40% consists of leading interactive, hour-long workshops that resemble improv practice more than conventional classroom instruction. All students must demonstrate mastery via Test2Pass assessments before progression.
This position offers advancement. You'll manage a small cohort and internalize Alpha's operational framework during year one. Demonstrate your ability to guide every student to 100% goal achievement while maintaining strong satisfaction metrics, and the trajectory opens toward Lead Guide, then Campus Lead (overseeing an entire school). You'll witness a student who avoided eye contact in September deliver a poised presentation to parents by spring.
Apply if you believe seating 30 children in rows to listen to one adult undervalues what children are capable of achieving.
Guide a cohort of K-8 students to achieve 100% of their academic and life-skills targets.
