At Alpha, academic instruction is handled by software. Personalized apps guide each student through coursework at their individual pace. No lectures, no homework, no grading papers. This structure allows you to focus on work that genuinely transforms lives: facilitating life skills workshops where high schoolers develop public speaking ability, concentration, and feedback literacy, then providing one-on-one coaching to sustain their motivation and help them achieve learning objectives. You'll spend half your day facilitating group sessions. The other half involves working directly with individual students, leveraging Coachbot analytics to pinpoint exactly where they're struggling and why.
Students complete a mastery assessment following every workshop. Over 90% should rate your performance highly. Every single student should be progressing through their learning apps. These aren't stretch goals; they define baseline expectations. Maintaining high standards demonstrates your confidence in students' capabilities. Throughout this process, you'll develop expertise in creating workshops that teenagers eagerly attend, mastering advanced educational technology, and forming meaningful relationships with students and families. Our Brownsville campus is located adjacent to SpaceX. What you will be doing
- Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for high school students covering subjects such as public speaking, concentration, and feedback exchange, followed by evaluating mastery via structured Test2Pass assessments
- Conducting daily individual motivation sessions guided by Coachbot data to engage with students personally, diagnose obstacles in their app-based learning, and help them overcome barriers
- Collaborating with students to create personalized motivational approaches, including reward systems and incentives that encourage autonomous advancement through academic applications
- Preparing by reviewing curriculum and lesson materials prior to each session, then adjusting your delivery based on real-time student engagement
What you will NOT be doing
- Delivering academic content. Mathematics, literacy, and all other subjects are taught through software.
- Overseeing school operations or supervising staff. No budget management, no recruitment, no administrative meetings; you concentrate entirely on your student cohort.
- Enforcing discipline through conventional authority structures. No detention assignments, no suspension protocols, no appeals to positional power. You rely on reasoning and positive reinforcement to cultivate a respectful, energized learning environment.
Key responsibilities
Develop a cohort of high school students who are enthusiastic about learning, achieve 2x accelerated progress through adaptive software, and demonstrate competency in practical life skills.
Candidate requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline
- 3+ years of direct experience working with high school students (ages 13-18)
- Able to work on-site in Brownsville, TX (relocation support available)
- Authorization to work legally in the United States
Nice to have
- Experience as a sports coach, camp counselor, or youth program coordinator who has inspired teenagers in non-classroom settings
- Demonstrated success guiding groups toward quantifiable objectives (completion metrics, performance standards, behavioral outcomes)
- Familiarity with adaptive learning systems or educational technology platforms
- Capacity to deliver compelling narratives that capture teenage audiences' attention with cultural sensitivity and authenticity
