Are you an elite Software Engineering Manager eager to gain unprecedented visibility to the top technology companies throughout the globe?

Do you want to employ your technical and managerial skills to oversee cutting-edge software in a high-intensity environment?

Are you interested in joining a network of the most talented engineers in the world while earning $100,000 USD - and with the ability to work wherever you want?

If you said yes to any of the questions above, this role is for you.

What are the expectations?

The SaaS Software Engineering Manager role is one of the most critical in any organization and requires both a mastery of the technical skills associated with the projects at hand, as well as the managerial ability to motivate, build, and lead your team.  Specifically, you will be responsible for leading 4 to 6 teams of software engineers as they develop next generation products.  Under your leadership, we expect to see consistent improvement in both static code quality metrics and weekly production.

Crossover is looking for SaaS Software Engineering Managers who demonstrate outstanding managerial skills and also possess the technical background to be a SaaS Operations leader through example.

You will be expected to understand the architecture for each of a variety of new SaaS products, design high quality plans for migrating to our simple consolidated architecture, and then coaching a dev-ops team to a successful on time execution. In addition, SaaS Software engineering managers will be responsible for improving individual productivity quarter over quarter through staffing, coaching, process standardization, process improvement, and automation.

You will be taught our Crossover management playbooks and you will own the process of breaking specifications created by the product management team into clear tasks and timelines, as well as assembling the results into high value, reusable components. The position is a hands-on leadership role. You will need a startup mindset, wearing multiple hats from CTO to lead architect on the most complex elements of the product.

Key Qualities:

  • Outstanding English communication skills

  • Exceptional ability to effectively motivate and manage teams of individuals

  • Commitment to increasing efficiency in the workplace by continuously automating manual processes

  • Perfectionism: knowing how a job should be done and not stop until it’s done correctly

  • The ability to quickly appropriate architectural decisions favoring simplicity

  • Commitment to hands-on engagement as an individual within the team, despite managerial status

  • Ruthless commitment to scientific debugging, and the unrelenting pursuit of the final "Root Cause"

Ideal Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science

  • Proven managerial skills with at least 5 years of experience managing multiple teams

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with system administration (including networking and databases on both windows and linux)

  • Proficiency with SaaS architectures and DevOps

  • Proficiency in AWS and Docker is desired but not mandatory

  • Experience in database monitoring tools and log file analysis tools

  • Experience in running devops teams for production saas products and 24/7 saas support teams

  • Experience in escalation tools and ticketing systems like pagerduty, victorops, jira

  • Excellent remote management skills (you will be using Skype, GoToMeeting, Google Docs, etc.)

100% Remote Life @ Crossover

A key benefit of joining Crossover is that all roles are location independent - live and work anywhere.  We believe you should let people work from where ever they believe they can be most productive.  We simply ask you to be productive for 40 hours on a weekly basis. You feel like swimming whole Monday? Totally fine!

Here's what we offer:

Step 1: Online Application

Start your application by creating an account and profile with Crossover, then uploading your resume and confirming your email address. From there, the Crossover platform will guide you through the remaining steps.

Step 2: Take the English and Fundamentals Test

We have a series of multiple-choice tests to check for the knowledge and skills needed for the role and an English exam where we ask candidates to upload a 2-3 minute audio submission. After this stage, you will receive an email invitation to the next step in the application process.

Step 3: Free Response Questions and CCAT Testing

In this step, we will ask you a series of free response questions that will simulate scenarios you are likely to encounter in the role. We find both the willingness to invest this time – coupled with the insights we derive from the answers – help us find the truly capable and passionate candidates. You may also be asked to make a presentation of your answers to demonstrate your communication skills. The free response section is an opportunity to preview the type of work you would be doing in the role and demonstrate your technical skills and abilities to hiring managers. The last free response question will invite you to complete CCAT testing. The CCAT measures cognitive aptitude or general intelligence, and tests an ability to solve problems, digest and apply information, learn new skills, and think critically.

Step 4: Join the Interview

The final step of the evaluation process is the marketplace interview. One of our hiring manager evaluators will speak with you on a video call to understand if you're the best fit for the position. In addition to technical and business questions about your current and previous roles and achievements, you may be asked about the answers you gave in your free response questions.

Step 5: Meet the Customer and Get Hired

If you successfully pass all stages of the evaluation process, you will have the opportunity to talk with hiring managers about the positions that are currently available. This is intended to be a two-way discussion where you can ask questions about the team, product, metrics, roadmap, etc. You can interview with as many hiring managers as desired and make the decision on which company or team best fits your interests and career goals.
